This Post Is Full Of Chicken Scratch

Hey, that title says chicken scratch, potty mouth! :P

I simply adore anything and everything gingham so imagine my delight when I discovered gingham embroidery, also known as "chicken scratch". I found it while visiting this fun homemaking site. Trying to save a little money, I somehow kept myself from running out and buying fabric, which was hard after seeing these aprons and then remembered I had a piece of gingham cardstock so I decided to practice a little and this is my result:

And here's a close up of the stitches:

After this taste of success, I of course ran out and bought some pink gingham. Since I'm afraid of my sewing machine after it eviscerated my layout last time I tried to use it, I decided to "hem" the fabric using the stitches, which hasn't been easy since I only have 2 straight pins so I've had to move them every few stitches. lol Anyhoo, here's what I've got so far:

I figure I'll just keep scratching till it becomes something. lol I'm telling you right now, this is the easiest thing to do ever! And relatively cheap since all you need is a needle, thread and some gingham so give it a try!

The other thing I wanted to share is my outright theft of an idea/project I saw on Frieda's blog a while back. Hi Frieda! *waving* First of all, have you been to her blog?! I stalk her blog continually because I am in love with 1. her art and 2. her garden. She shares many pictures of both which are so worth a visit! Now what was I talking about? Oh yes, well she has started a generosity project where every month she mails one of her fabulous ATCs to someone in thanks to regular visitors/commentors on her blog. I thought that was such a fun idea that I've decided to blatantly copy her and do the same thing for my fabulous friends (that's you) who come and read my blog and take time to leave your wonderful comments that make my day.

So basically if you would like a little surprise in the mail now and then, please e-mail me your name and mailing address to katamommy at gmail dot com. Now, what you get will be totally random and you won't know when it's coming. (Muwahahahahaha) For the most part it will be something I made but there may be times that I'm lazy and will send you something out of my stash or some other kind of fun trinket. (And I make no guarantees you'll like what I send! lol) :) Please understand that I do not expect anything in return! This is just to spread some fun mail around and to thank you for visiting me. (The only thing I ask is that you let me know when you get it please!) Oh and by the way...my fabulous friends from Canada and anywhere outside of the United States, please feel free to send me your address too! You are most certainly welcome to join in!

This just in! Melissa has the sweetest little Disney blog candy up for grabs! Check it out here!

All right, I'm outta here but first is there anyone else that is as in love with this song as I am?!?!
