Toot and the Home Journal

First of all, how in the world can this possibly be comfortable???

In other news, I've been drooling to have some 1950's Look magazines to add to my collection. They have the best celebrity info and ads in them but it seems as though I was destined to be the Queen of the Ladie's Home Journal. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! I've been lucky enough to find some issues in fabulous condition and my strict "no messing with intact vintage things" is in full effect.

Of course when I find pieces/sections of mags like these Ladies' Home Journal from the 1930's, my creative wheels start turning!

But as for the following, I will not be touching them other than to read them. The ads and articles are amazing! I added some pages from one of them that has the most beautiful fashion spread ever!

Enjoy!

April 1954

July 1954

March 1957

And my favorite issue so far, April 1957.

And what's this??? Another Toot video! In this one, Toot has just woken up from a nap and I'm going to get her. And before you think me a Mean Mommy by not getting my child when she reaches out to me, trust me, she's reaching for the camera strap not me. :P

I am SO glad I found your blog...I thought I was the only one who lived in my 'nostalgic' world with magazines!

Do you even REMEMBER a time you were as flexible as Toot?

This has to be one of my all time favorite posts. I was giggling like crazy over the little lady's sleeping position...if only I could ever be that flexible. Then the fabulous eye candy! I think you may have created a new passion for me...a passion for all things vintage. I 've always found them charming, but now I'm beginning to feel a need to possess! LOL! Loved the adorable video too!

Can't be the most comfortable way to sleep lol! Love the video. Toot has the prettiest skin. I bet you hear that all the time. I love those magazines. One time someone let me borrow the 50th anniversary of 17 magazine and it was the neatest thing to look at. Wish I had I would definitly send it to you:)

Toot is a FABULOUS gymnast, and adorable too!!
Those mags are delish, but ironic. While reading the "headlines" of the stories, it is just like reading the headlines in todays papers!!
Cool how some things never change!!

The most captivating imagery is that of the lady with the bold red lips and the flawless skin. The women in the ads to follow are absolutely stunning, oh to live back then........

Stopping in from SITS! I too often wonder how kids contort themselves into those sleeping positions without feeling some kind of pain. I often find my own two sleeping in awkward ways, such as my daughter once had her legs all the way up one side of the crib..She was practically on her head. I didn't take a picture though. I didn't want to wake her with the flash. I love your old family photos as well. The oldest my family has are from the 50's when my grandparents were wearing the dresses in ladies home journal.

I thought I had strange sleeping positions! Ha, ha. I'm visiting from SITS. Have a beautiful day!

OMGosh! I can't believe how much she's grown! That pic of her in the crib seriously looks like it hurts!! We've got to try to get together again and let the girls play! And yeah, I still have something that belongs to you! (a RAK!!!!!)

How cute! But you are right, that does not look comfortable in any way, but as long as she was comfy right?
I love the vintage Ladies Home Journal, what amazing things to own. I can see why the April 1957 is your favorite. The cover is absolutely stunning and the dresses from the pages your included are fabulous!

Those magazines are too amazing for words! You're leagues ahead of me in the vintage mag department, at present I just own a few (vintage) copies of Better Homes & Gardens, which while lovely in their own right, just can't compare to those glossies that featured fashion spreads. You're so lucky to have old school copies of Ladies Home Journals!!! :)

Wishing you & adorable Toot and splendid Thursday - big hugs,
♥ Jessica

Oh Dear!! to us that looks sooo uncomfortable but we all know she would not stay that way if it was. I have to say that is the strangest position I have ever seen, and my kids had some strange ones. I left something for you on my blog check it out when you have time.
