Her Name Is Grace And She Is A Craftoholic...

Welcome to this week's edition of Craftoholics!

No idea what the what I'm talking about? Go here to find out more!

This week's Craftholic is none other than the enormously talented: Grace!!

What crafts do you enjoy making? What is your favorite?

"My grandmother and mother both crochet and taught me how. I used to cross stitch those little ornaments every Christmas too. I started Scrapbooking in high school and ever since then that has become my favorite craft. I have to admit I don’t like cross stitching much anymore though I can sit and crochet with my grandmother all night long. I have dabbled in many others like soap making, ribbon embroidery, latch hook, and cake decorating."

Neato! Cake decorating is so much fun!

When did you start making crafts? Was there a particular reason or event that got your started?

"Well I started crafting when I was just a kid with my Grandmother and mother. I guess you can call it a family tradition. My Grandmother makes a blanket for everyone of her grandkids. She has 33 of us currently. I have a dress she made my mother when she was a baby and my daughter wore it in her pictures for her first birthday."

Wow, 33 grandchildren! It's great to have a crafty legacy to pass down! :)

I love the look of this altered file box!

What do you like to do when you aren't crafting?

"I have to admit when I am not crafting and just wanting something to do for down time I play video games. Shhh… I am a “Closet Geek”."

*GASP* Video games?! A geek after my own heart, woo hoo!

What makes you a craftoholic? What drives you to create?

"I guess it all started with my infatuation with heirlooms. I love them I love the history behind them and I want generations of my family to have them from me as well. This began my desire to craft and create with my own hands and ever since I grasped a hold of most of my crafts. I love the fact that with scrapbooking I am not only making something that will be passed down but telling our family story. I usually get my most creative ideas at 1-3 am. Just in time to keep me up all night thinking about it… lol."

These are the coolest invitations EVER!

What is your favorite food?

"My Favorite food is seafood pasta usually. I live near San Francisco and oh my they can cook up some wonderful seafood down there."

What food do you hate to eat?

"I am not a big fan of brown rice. I like most foods but for some reason brown rice… I just don’t like it."

How long have you been blogging?

"I have been blogging since January of this year and I really love it. I have never been able to keep a regular journal but I enjoy sharing my creations with everyone. I call my blog a documentation of my creative journey."

What do you like best about blogging?

"I really can spend all day just reading about peoples lives, hobbies and tutorials. I love to learn about people, meet new friends and I really enjoy learning how to create something new. I can do all of these while blogging. That is what I love."

I'm totally with you there!

This layout is so full of detail I see something new every time I look at it!

What craft have you always wanted to try but, for whatever reason, never have?

"I would say knitting… really I just have never tried it and to me it looks kind of complicated with the two needles connected… I hope though that someday I will be able to take a class or two."

Oh no! You've been ship wreaked on a deserted island! (Luckily you grabbed your adhesive and scissors before you jumped ship!) Name 3 other crafting supplies that your creative survival depends upon! (Note: Capt. Jack Sparrow is not a crafting supply!)

"Let’s see… Well I have to cut something with scissors so I would take paper… I would grab my paper stash… that might just take an extra dingy. Then I would need something to scrap so my pictures of course and I can probably learn to make ribbon from leaf fibers… and inks from flowers… I could carve stamps from wood and other things; I love to make my own handmade embellishments so that is no problem… hmmm… I would have to say my glitter glue; yup I got to have my glitter glues."

You are so right, gotta have that glitter!

Thanks for letting me interview you Grace! You are a major Craftoholic!

Be sure to check back next Monday when another lucky victim...ahem, I mean crafter will be added to the Craftoholic family!

Thanks ladies! I had a great time answering these questions. I really made me think of the heritage my family has and how it passes down from generation to generation. Makes me happy to see my kids picking up on it too. I never realized I tried so many crafts before I started listing them ... lol. I guess I am a true Craftaholic!

Hey chickie. I checked out this book from the library and LOVE it!!! It has such great, simple suggestions for scrapping. Do you do the library thing?? I love to get scrappy books there bc I rarely like them, and this way I haven't committed to them. But this book, I love. I am going to order it from Amazon. Here's the low down:
