Nifty Thrifty, Nifty Gifty

I was able to get away to a local thrift store today and picked up a couple of things (just a couple you know):

I got this set of matching American Tourister luggage. I was just going to get the cosmetic case but then I saw the big one and I was a goner. Plus, the cosmetic case included a mirror in a matching snap case. (The white spot on the big one is a camera issue.)

I got "The Bell Jar", "Walden", "The Odyssey" and a flower pressing kit:

I got a set of pink plastic coffee cups and a couple of blue ones from a different set. I was going to pass on them but I can remember my parents having some yellow ones when I was a kid so I had to get them...nostalgia you know...

I got this neato shadow box clock that I'm going to make up new somehow:

But the real treats were the two sets of salt and pepper shakers inside that they didn't charge me extra for!

Now, the whole reason I went in there was to try and find a vintage-y looking handkerchief for a project but all I found were these:

I need one for a project I started last night. Yesterday I found a clearance 9x12 canvas at Hobby Lobby for $2. It was ripped a little so I bought it and then decoupaged it with a piece of patterned paper I tore into pieces:

I'm thinking of using two of these old photos that I bought a while back on this canvas. (Some of you might remember when I originally posted about these):

So we'll see what I can come up with...hmmm....

Anyhoo, thank you all so much for your blog party ideas! I got so many great ones that it was really hard to choose and now I want to have a party every week so I can use them all! lol I'll hopefully be able to announce the details ASAP.

The amazing Moonspinner from dustjacket attic gave me this fabulous award! Thank you so much!!! And by the way, you need to go check out her blog, especially you creative types...I find her blog so inspiring!

I just want to thank all of you for visiting my blog and leaving your fab comments, it means the world to me and I appreciate it so much! Remember, if you would like some random happy mail, just e-mail me your address at katamommy at gmail dot com and if you have something you are loving and would like to add it to my Friday Night Fab Five, just send me an e-mail!

I would love to shop and collect those gorgeous items but with three boys I am lucky I have my pre-children Fenton still in tact. It would still be fun to go window shopping with you though :D

Ok, I used to have a tiny suitcase like that and it held my Barbies. It was even that colour and it was cream satin inside. Is yours?

AND, how did you get that picture of me at work at the Library!?!?! I didn't realize it was circulating, and I'm so embarrassed :)

What absolutely fantastic finds! You must have some awesome thrifting haunts in your neck of the woods! I especially like the pink and blue (aqua) teacups and the cosmetic case.

I hope you're having a wonderful week - big hugs!

I saw a really cool project that used a doiley (sp?) that would be perfect for you. They took a standard tank top (any color you want) and literally just sewed the doiley to it. They added it on the side, under the arm (like, right about where your waist curves). It is REALLY cute. Does this make ANY sense at all?? You can also use them as a mask with some maya mist and make some amazing pp. Good finds!! Have fun!!
