1. Marilyn Monroe
She was everything and anything in my opinion. Gorgeous, seductive, innocent, simple and complex. My favorite movie of hers is a tie between "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "How to Marry a Millionaire".
2. Vivien Leigh
I always think of one word when I see pictures of her: flawless. Her performance as Blanche in "A Streetcar Named Desire" is amazing and tragic.
3. Katharine Hepburn
She was gorgeous, didn't take crap from nobody and was F-U-N-N-Y. If you haven't seen "Bringing Up Baby" you are missing out!
4. Rosalind Russell
She was fabulous and I absolutely fell in love with her when I saw "Auntie Mame". (Her clothes alone in that movie make it worth watching! lol)
5. Lucille Ball
Ummm...yeah, betcha you didn't see this one coming! ;) Funny, gorgeous and an amazing sense of timing that never failed. She's perfect in "Stage Door".
So that's my five! I of course have so many more: Audrey Hepburn, Betty Grable, Esther Williams, June Allyson, Jane Powell, Ava Gardner, Jane Russell, Ann Miller, I could literally go on and on!
But I won't...
Do you have a favorite actress (current or otherwise)??? Leave a comment and share it here! And don't forget to join me here tomorrow for the Mad Tea Party Blogfest!

I don't have a favorite old Hollywood actress, but actors...I love James Dean and Marlon Brando! East of Eden and Streetcar Named Desire. The BEST!
Absolutely love your theme for this week's quintet! I adore so many of Hollywood's great starlets, but one of my top leading ladies would have to be Ginger Rogers.
Thank you so much for your comments on my blog, Maggi sweetie, I hope you have a sparkling wonderful weekend!!!
♥ Jessica
My favorites would have to be Doris Day, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn. Current era? Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Susan Sarandon, Cate Blanchett.
As far as actors go, let's see: Paul Newman. Love me some Paul Newman - any era, any age. Harrison Ford. Tom Hanks. Jimmy Stewart. Cary Grant. George Clooney.
Okay, so this more than 5. Math was never my best subject. :-)
fabulous list!! lucille ball has to be my all time favorite! i still watch her on nick at nite!
Katharine Hepburn was the shiz...modern day would have to be Meryl Streep...every movie she's in, I just completely forget that she's Meryl--I always believe she IS that character.
I love this!!!! Hre's one more, my namesake....Debbie Reynolds! XOXO

My fave old time star was Frances Farmer, not many have heard of her. I never saw her movies, but she's beautiful.
My fave current star is Sandra Bullock.
I love your fab five ... one of my fav's is Grace Kelly, you just cannot take your eyes off her.xx
Audrey Hepburn. Just love her!
And love your list today.

I love your 5 but have to add Ingrid Bergman, her daughter Isabella Rossellini, Jimmy Stewart and Gene Wilder
Lovely shot's of beautiful ladie's, But where's Rita!
Just love these!!! My all time favorite is Lucille Ball and I did love Betty Davis!!!!! Was this not the era of the best actors!!!!! Thanks for sharing this with us!!! I so look forward to Friday's!!!!! Will be back to visit tomorrow!!! :)
My fav is Ingrid Bergman of Casablanca and Notorious. She's flawless! =)
Oh Maggi - what a wonderful topic. All these gals scream GLAMOUR - but for me the Queen of them all is Bette Davis. That scene in 'Now Voyager' where she slowly raises her head under that fabulous hat to reveal herself as beautiful and magnificent swan.
Sadly modern day actresses just don't match up - or actors. Gregory Peck = knee tremble and sweaty palms!!!
Thank you for reminding us of these wonderful women. Carol :) xx
A great fab five! I agree on all. I could add one or two. Elizabeth Taylor was such a beautiful child star.Angelic features. I still love to watch Shirley Temple movies too. She was amazing ,she was SOoo young in some of her films. Just a baby, practically!
I would also add Judy Garland. another sad tragic life.
I can't tell you how much i love vivien leigh. She is probably the most beautiful woman ever. Gone with the wind is my favorite movie.
Did you see my post about being named after a Betty Davis movie character..love the photo's you posted.
